Why does GNL Include Genomic and Micronutrient Testing in all Packages?

  • It helps us go underneath to find the root cause rather than guessing based on symptoms.

  • It personalize and streamline our plan of action.

  • This allows for improved health outcomes by showing you where the health “hiccups” are

  • We include genomic testing and micronutrient testing in all of our packages as it is clinically useful in identifying gene variants (or SNPs) that could be contributing to health imbalances.

  • SNPs are those health “hiccups”

Lab Criteria, Ordering and Testing

What does Genomic Testing Cover / Include?

Our genomic testing covers several gene SNPs in a variety of areas including;

*SNPs have the potential to increase the risk of disease in multiple biological systems

  • Bone health and density as well as osteoporosis risk

  • Cardiovascular health

  • Cognitive health

  • Detoxification

  • Diabetes/blood sugar handling

  • Eating behaviors

  • Emotional health

  • Exercise

  • Hormonal health

  • Immune health

  • Micronutrients, vitamin and mineral deficiency

  • Migraines

  • Oxidative stress, which contributes to inflammation

  • Telomeres

  • Thyroid

  • Weight loss

Genomic Lab Criteria:

At Genomic Led Nutrition, we use genetic labs at the forefront of nutrigenomic science for running our genomic testing. The below details out why our labs meet all of our specific criteria.

  • Doctor-owned company and follows HIPAA privacy rules

  • Your health data is private - period

  • The SNPs tested are well researched and recommended and action steps have been verified by multiple research papers prior to being added to the report.

  • It contains genes that are only clinically relevant - meaning we know how they work and what to do to change

  • Looks at multiple systems that impact your health. The reason for this is that your body is very interconnected and what impacts one system can impact them all.

Micronutrient Testing:

Going a step deeper, micronutrient testing helps to identify nutritional imbalances that could be contributing to a variety of health concerns and helps to further corroborate which gene variants could be contributing to your health concern or disease state.

Additional testing may be recommended based on your questionnaire and genomic report.

What’s Included with Micronutrient Testing:

We run nutritional marker testing, including amino acids, fatty acids, kreb cycle intermediates (your energy cycle), B vitamin markers as well as intermediates, mineral status, vitamin D, inflammatory markers and intermediates, as well as preliminary markers for dysbiosis, and toxic burden.

This helps us assess if your gene variant or SNP is actually contributing to a health complication.

Testing Procedure

  • Genomic Testing

Sample collection process for genomic testing:

    • Your kit will be mailed to your house

    • Pick a morning when you are not in a rush to complete the testing

    • Wake up and do not eat or drink anything (other than water)

    • Do not brush your teeth

    • Follow instructions on your lab requisition

    • Send your sample off

    • Results take 6-8 weeks

  • Micronutrient Testing

    • We’ll ship test kit to you and will either coordinate the blood draw near you or you do blood smear at home while in fasted state. (no food or beverage other than water for 10-12 hours)

    • Open your kit , remove the ice packs and place them in the freezer (minimum of 8 hours prior to shipping)

    • Can be done Monday -Thursday

    • We have a phlebotomist who can meet you at home or work

    • You need to collect a urine sample- first void of the day (12am or after)

    • Urine sample can be transfer to the collection tube and placed in the freezer

    • Both urine and blood need to shop within 24 hours

    • Keep a food diary starting 36hr prior to your blood draw

    • Wait to brush your teeth until after your blood draw

    Prepping:

    Urine collection instructions:

    • Ok, to remain on your supplement for the test

    • Limit water intake to three, 8 oz glasses the day before you plan to test (24hrs). No more than 8oz of water after 8pm on the evening prior

    • Women should not schedule collection while menstruating

    Blood collection:

    • Fast starting at 9pm the night before the blood draw (10-12 hrs.)

Additional Testing Options:

Additional testing will be recommended based on genomic results and initial intake.

  • Adrenal Testing

  • Dutch Hormone Testing

  • Essential Estrogen

  • Food Allergy Testing

  • Rhythm Hormone Testing
