Our Philosophy

Our bodies are not closed systems, meaning everything is interconnected and even talks through biochemical pathways to promote different actions, good or bad. For this reason, Functional Nutrition (or a ‘whole body’ approach) is what we believe makes all the difference in our clients health.

This functional approach led me to the field of genomics, where my biochemistry-loving heart swelled and I realized that I had found my calling. - Jessica

At Genomic led Nutrition we prefer to use laboratories that provide us with clinically useful information, working with healthcare companies who comply with HIPAA privacy rules and demonstrate integrity.

Our responsibility: We’re here to support you in being the healthiest version of you using my knowledge and expertise by leveraging the power of diet and lifestyle. Going beneath the food into biochemistry to create a personal roadmap to your health.

Our request of you: To be an active participant in this process as you will get out of it what you put in.

Questions? We’ve Got Answers.

What is the difference between an RDN, nutritionist, and health coach?

RDN stands for Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. An RDN is a healthcare  provider who has completed a bachelor's degree or master's degree, as well as a nine month internship, in the field of nutrition. RDNs take an oath and are required to complete 75 hours of continuing education and ethics review every 5 years.

Nutritionist- Range of education and experience varies widely, as there are no national standards.  A nutritionist’s education and training can range from 6- week online courses to those with master or PhD degrees in the field of nutrition, and may or may not require clinical training.

Health coach- Range of education and experience varies widely, as there are no national standards. Health coaching is designed to help with behavioral changes to support health goals. A health coach’s training can range from short online courses to accredited programs.

I have seen an RDN in the past and it did not work, how can you help?

All RDNs are created differently - At GLN we expect our client to actively participate in their health goals, but this process takes time. It also takes a supportive and honest relationship between client and provider.

We go beyond the standard RD training. We have a lengthy intake that covers a wide array of health topics, allowing for a comprehensive dive into your health. We spend time listening to our clients personal history, which also helps us identify behind-the-scenes experiences or injuries that can contribute to specific health concerns. We simply go deeper with our clients and get to the root of their concerns, rather than focus on the surface level health changes.

The reality is that sometimes a provider and a client’s personality do not fit. We offer a 15 minute consultation to assess fit before moving forward with scheduling. Your health is our priority regardless of you choosing to work with us or another RDN.

Coordinated care is important and we do work with other providers including other RDNs, meaning that if you would like to see us for genomics and micronutrient testing, we can order, review and coordinate care with your preferred provider or ourselves.

Can you help with weight loss?

Contrary to what most people think, weight loss is not just about a quick fix diet. In my experience weight loss is a very complex process, linked to your genomics, diet, lifestyle and emotions. Our approach is to get to the root of what you need for health. Weight is addressed within that context.
